When should you visit a cardiologist?

Regular visits to a cardiologist should be important for every person who cares about their health, especially for those who belong to the risk group. Cardiovascular diseases are promoted by lack of exercise, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, being overweight, eating less fruit and vegetables and excessive salt consumption.

Here we highlight some of the main heart diseases:

  • High blood pressure or hypertension (The normal upper blood pressure of adults, measured from the upper arm, is a maximum of 140 mm and the lower blood pressure is 90 mm of mercury. )
  • Heart rhythm disturbances, or arrhythmia (In the presence of rhythm disturbances, it is necessary to rule out heart disease or damage)
  • Disorders of cholesterol metabolism (including elevated cholesterol level and hypercholesterolemia, familial hypercholesterolemia). A cholesterol level below 5 mmol/l is considered normal
  • Heart failure – almost any heart disease can lead to heart failure as a complication
  • Valve malfunctions and diseases of large blood vessels (Pulmonary embolism, mitral valve insufficiency, aortic valve stenosis)
  • Congenital heart defects
