STRESS TESTS AND COUNSELLING
Overexhaustion, sleep disorders, higher heart rate, frequent illnesses, injuries and non-improvement of competitive results in athletes are some of the signs of the results of increased and wrongly planned exercise loads.
Both under- and overtraining may be unnoticed in everyday life, but the sports doctor can identify these conditions with medical instruments and systematic analysis.
Sports medicine health studies are suitable for people thinking about taking up sports as well as for athletes training at professional levels.
The studies assess health-related physical capability, exercise tolerance and current athletic form based on which advice for further actions are given (training loads, nutrition).
The cardiac stress test assesses cardiovascular adaptation to exercise (blood pressure, heart rate is measured, and a cardiogram is registered during exercise). It is also possible to measure maximal oxygen consumption capacity (characterises one’s endurance capacity) and the lactic acid in blood produced during exercise. Based on these indicators, the aerobic and anaerobic threshold and individually suitable heart rate ranges are determined.
The stress test can be performed on a veloergometer or a treadmill (running test or walking test “uphill”). The choice of the test depends mostly on the sports discipline, since the testing needs to be as close to the actual discipline as possible.

– spirometry (measuring lung volume),
– Resting ECG, blood pressure measurement,
– ECG stress test on a veloergometer or treadmill.
Purpose – testing health-related physical capacity, recommendations for health training.
Time spent on the packet is 1.5 hours.

“Health sports”
– consultation with a sports doctor,
– antropometry (weight, height, body mass index, measuring body fat content with bioelectrical impedance),
– spirometry (measuring lung volume),
– Resting ECG, blood pressure measurement,
– cardiopulmonary stress test (cardiogram during exercise and maximal oxygen consumption and measurement of other exercise respiratory indicators) on a veloergometer or a treadmill.
Purpose – testing health-related physical capacity, measuring maximal oxygen consumption capacity (characterises endurance aka aerobic exercise capacity), determining the aerobic and anaerobic threshold (based on gas analysis indicators) and determining individual training heart rate ranges based on them, training recommendations.
Time spent on the packet is 1.5 to 2 hours.
Packet price 165 €
“Sport 1″
– consultation with a sports doctor,
– antropometry (weight, height, body mass index, measuring body fat content with bioelectrical impedance),
– spirometry (measuring lung volume),
– Resting ECG, blood pressure measurement,
– ECG stress test on a veloergometer or treadmill,
– lactic acid analyses during exercise (a drop of fingertip blood is taken on different exercise levels) and lactic acid (aka lactic acid salt) level is measured in blood. Lactic acid analyses help to specify the aerobic and anaerobic threshold and guide endurance training more precisely according to these results.
Purpose – determining anaerobic threshold and individual training heart rate zones specific to sports disciplines (running, skiing, cycling),
assessing training level, recommendations for optimal training.
Time spent on the packet is about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Packet price 165 €
“Sport 2″
– consultation with a sports doctor,
– antropometry (weight, height, body mass index, measuring body fat content with bioelectrical impedance),
– spirometry (measuring lung volume),
– Resting ECG, blood pressure measurement,
– cardiopulmonary stress test (cardiogram during exercise and maximal oxygen consumption and measurement of other respiratory indicators of exercise) on a veloergometer or a treadmill,
– lactic acid analyses during exercise (a drop of fingertip blood is taken on different exercise levels) and lactic acid (aka lactic acid salt) level is measured in blood. Lactic acid analyses help to specify the aerobic and anaerobic threshold and guide endurance training more precisely according to these results.
Purpose – measuring maximal oxygen consumption (characterises endurance aka aerobic exercise capacity), determining anaerobic threshold and individual training heart rate zones specific to sports disciplines (running, skiing, cycling), assessing training level, recommendations for optimal training.
Time spent on the packet is 2 hours.
Packet price 205 €
NB! Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked time.
Before going to the sports doctor to do the stress test, it is recommended to avoid heavy training for 2 to 3 days.
Please take sporting clothes and clean sports shoes with you. You can wash here as well.
Sports doctors Anu Kaasik and Valeri Kovaljov take consultations at FORUS Center at Sõjakooli street 10.
For Tondi Tennis Center clients, parking in the center’s parking spaces is FREE, if the parking is registered at the parking kiosk located inside the center.
